Biscuits for the weekend!
Updated: Dec 20, 2023
INGREDIENTS: 3 cup of all purpose flour 4 Tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup of cold butter (as cold as possible cut in small pieces) 1 Tbsp of lime juice or vinegar 1 cup of cold milk or cold butter milk (if using butter milk don’t need to add lime juice)
1 egg
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven at 450*F (230*C). 2. Mix dry ingredients: (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt). Mix it well with a fork. 3. Add the pieces of butter with a pastry cutter (if you don’t have pastry cutter use a fork, or your hands) to mix the butter with the flour. If using your hands, work the butter into the flour squeezing the ingredients between your fingers to break up a little bit the butter - not too much! We want the little chucks in the dough - work fast to avoid the butter melting. 4. Add the egg and milk, and mix until it starts feeling sticky. 5. On a clean surface, sprinkle some flour and place the dough. Sprinkle some more flour on top of the dough, to avoid it sticking to your fingers, and flatten it to a thick layer of about 1 inch (2.5 cm). 6. Using a biscuit cutter (or a glass) cut circles in the dough. Depending on the size of your glass it would make between 8-12 biscuits. 7. Place the biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or when the top is golden brown. 8. Take them out and serve with butter!
Enjoy!
